The Rosetta Rock is a granodiorite stele etched with a decree supplied at Memphis in 196 BC on behalf of Master Ptolemy V. The decree turns up in 3 manuscripts: the leading message is Old Egyptian hieroglyphs, the mid part Demotic composition, and one of the most economical Old Greek.
